Morocco Earthquake Diaster Relief 2023

Thanks to the generosity of our community, we raised €6,000 for the survivors of last year's earthquake in Morocco. At the end of October 2023, two members of our committee - Mahbub Alam Shamim (Treasurer) and Nurul Islam Chowdhury (Vice Chair) - travelled to Morocco at their own expense, to deliver aid to survivors.

They travelled for over 4 hours to reach remote villages in the Atlas Mountains. These villages can't typically be reached by aid agencies due to the treacherous conditions - many roads had disappeared or been broken, limiting access.

We were able to distribute €6,000 worth of aid including food and warm clothing, as requested by the communities.

There were many villages where everything had collapsed with bodies unable to be retrieved in some cases. Even though these communities had been so negatively impacted, their hospitality knew no bounds. May Allah SWT bless us with as much patience and resilience as these communities. Ameen.
